Following the numerous reports of rumours last week, Capcom has revealed a new fighting game at PlayStation Experience, titled Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.

A new entry into the Marvel vs. Capcom fighting game series, MvC: Infinite will be coming to PS4 in 2017. From what Capcom has revealed so far the game will feature a roster comprised of characters from the Marvel cinematic universe, Street Fighter games, and Mega Man. So far we’ve seen the characters Ryu, Mega Man, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel in action. Notably, no X-Men characters appeared in the debut trailer.

It looks like the game’s multi-character team vs. team format will be returning in some form, with the video showcasing a two-versus-two fight. The very end of the trailer showcased a character hidden in shadow, who looked like it could be Marvel supervillain Ultron.

A Marvel vs. Capcom sequel was rumoured to be in development for some time. Infinite follows on from Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, which was released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in November 2011. UMvC3 is an updated version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, which launched in February 2011. MvC 3 shipped 2 million copies a month and a half after its debut, which Capcom has dubbed a success.

PlayStation also announced the release of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for PlayStation 4, available on the PSN Store from today.

Capcom will be showcasing gameplay footage at the Capcom Cup finals. Yahoo Esports is in attendance at PlayStation Experience and Capcom Cup 2016, so stay tuned to the site for more updates as they break.
